Visit the House of Marbles: Fun for All Ages in Bovey Tracey

The House of Marbles is located in Bovey Tracey, Devon. It was always a favourite location for us when we visited South Devon, particularly on rainy days. It has several different areas, which are suitable for different age groups, the glassworks, the marble museum, the courtyard, the cafe and gift shop.

The glassworks factory is a wonderful place where you can watch professionals blow glass from either a walkway above or through a screen on the same level. It is here that the glass which is sold by House of Marbles is made. It is truly fascinating to watch the process.

The museum portion is interesting as well, with sections dedicated to the history of games and the fact that the site on which the House of Marbles is located has a history of pottery making. It is a fun place to wander around looking at different marble runs, something the younger kids adored.

Outside is just as fun for the children with a variety of different games. When we last visited there was a large chess set and a giant marble rotating in water, both of which were surrounded by children. It is also a dog friendly area, so if you don’t want to leave your furry friend behind, they can enjoy the space with you.

The House of Marbles is a lovely location for visitors of all ages and I would definitely recommend a trip if you’re in the area.
