One of my favourite parts of our holiday this summer, was the sunset cruise that we took. It was definitely worth the money and allowed us to see the North Devon coast, or at least part of it, from the ocean. I’ll admit that we didn’t have the best of luck to begin with; for example, bad fog and heat stroke, but the lovely lady at the kiosk was very understanding and allowed us to swap which days we were booked on (We were very lucky that the places on the other days weren’t full) and the bad start didn’t take anything away from the wonderful experience.
The one-and-a-half-hour cruise took us from Ilfracombe to Dartmoor and back, going in and out of the coves. The boat we were on was an old RNLI lifeboat, The Hampshire Rose, and our captain was an old lifeguard who told us some very entertaining stories about his time in the service.
Our cruise was a great way to learn about the local history (like the smugglers coves) and see some wildlife (we are fairly sure that we saw some dolphins). Our tour guide/captain was very knowledgeable about the area, pointing out which beaches are dog friendly and where to get the best cream tea.
It was an absolutely amazing opportunity, which appealed to all three of us (considering how different we are that is a struggle). Below I have added their website and Facebook page, so if you are interested in this experience, you have the ability to book them, however they are only available at certain times of the year.
