5 Ways to Prepare for Your Holiday

  1. Lists It helps to have a checklist of everything that needs to be done so that you are you aren’t repeatedly doing (or going to do) the same task or forgetting the same thing continuously. It also helps to make sure that you aren’t forgetting something in your last-minute rush.
  2. Pack in Advance – A way to prevent something being left behind is to pack your bag the night before. Only leave out what you’ll need in the morning/before travelling and then pack it as soon as you’ve used it.
  3. Know where you’re going… – Unless you are purposefully not planning (be it for a sense of adventure or something else entirely), it pays to know where you’re going when you get to your new location.
  4. …and how to get there – Trust me, this will definitely lower stress levels. Harry and I made this mistake on our first holiday together. We knew all the flight details and the name of our hotel but had overlooked how we were supposed to get to it from the airport. We were lucky enough that there was a bus available to us, but even then we didn’t really know when to get off or where to go once we were at the stop (all I can say is thank god for google maps!). We learnt our lesson, however, and for our trip to France, we had researched exactly how to get from Gare du Nord to Disneyland, then from there to our accommodation in Paris and finally back to Gare du Nord. It made everything seem more relaxed.
  5. Keep all of your important documents together – Travelling involves a lot of papers sometimes; tickets, bookings, reservations, meal tickets, etc., so it is easier to locate them if they are all together in a safe place. I would recommend buying or borrowing a folder so that you can keep all of your documents together.
