Check the weather
While weather forecasts aren’t always accurate, it can be a good way of judging what type of weather you could potentially experience while you are away. This will help you decide whether to pack warmer or cooler clothes.
Know what activities you are going to do
Different activities will require you to pack different clothes, footwear, etc. For example, if you are doing a lot of walking or hiking you would probably want to take hiking boots.
Read recommendations
When I was preparing for our trip to Paris, I read several different articles and blogs where people spoke about what they had taken and didn’t need or what they wished they had packed, so that I had something to base my own packing on.
Always pack a warm jumper
One thing that I always take with me when I travel is a warm hoodie. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are, temperatures will drop in the evenings, and after spending all day in the sun or becoming accustomed to the temperature, you will likely get cold.
Research what’s on offer at the hotel
Most of the time, the hotel will provide visitors with toiletries, USB ports (so you don’t need to foreign adaptors) and towels. If you don’t need to pack something, it will save space and money.
