So, this attraction appealed greatly to our inner children, and pirates have also been a reoccurring theme in our relationship (we watched Pirates of the Caribbean together on our first date and dressed up as pirates for a party later on), because of this we were certain that this museum was somewhere we wanted to explore. I’d heard about the Pirate and Treasure Museum before we’d even landed in America, it had been mentioned by a friend of Harry’s, but when we were exploring the city, I saw signs for it and pointed them out to Harry who agreed to take a look.

Interactive Exhibits
One of reasons that we found we could happily spend hours in this museum were the interactive exhibits. The first is a room with several tablets that you can use to learn more about famous pirates while gaining a treasure map for the museum.
The Second interactive exhibit is a couple of rooms tucked away that are laid out like the inside of a ship. When you sit on the bench with the door closed and headphones on, it is pitch black. You then proceed to listen to a scenario at sea with Blackbeard’s crew. This one can become a little overwhelming as you completely lose your sense of sight.
There are also drawers that you can pull out for additional information as you walk around the pirate museum.

The Pirate & Treasure Museum’s Scavenger Hunt
As I previously mentioned, we were channelling our inner children as we explored this museum, so we had to take part in their scavenger hunt. It was a great way to make sure that we found all of the hidden information in the drawers and our little prize for its completion makes for a great keepsake!

The Ticket for the Pirate & Treasure Museum
One of the great things about this attraction is that once you have bought entrance, you are able to come and go as you please. So, if like us you need to leave mid-way through for something else, you are able to come back at any point during the day to finish your visit.
When we were there, there was a promotion running between the museum and a local seafood restaurant (St Augustine Seafood Company). This meant that if you visited the Pirate & Treasure Museum, you got your food half price from this restaurant. So, if there are offers like this available you will be told when you first arrive.

Conclusion
Visiting the Pirate & Treasure Museum in St Augustine is a must do if you have children or an interest in pirates. It is informative and fun with activities to engage all ages, making it well worth your time.
